Beach Cleanups

Why Beach Cleanups?

Surfrider Kauaʻi – joined by local community groups, ʻohana and visitors – organizes regularly scheduled beach cleanups throughout the year. In 2020, we led 24 cleanups and together with our Net Patrol program, collected over 129,000 pounds of debris! Our strong, dedicated network of volunteers go out daily to clean the beaches. We pick up all plastic, nets, and trash from large stretches of beach – disposing it at the County landfill.

Join Us at Our Next Beach Cleanup

Sunday, January 14 from 3:00-5:30pm at Anahola Beach Park. Meet at Kumu Camp. Please register in advance by clicking the link below. Feel free to bring your own gloves and reusable bag or bucket. We also have gloves and buckets that can be borrowed. Don’t forget to bring your water bottle, hat and sunscreen!

Why do we do what we do?

The marine and other debris we remove – especially the plastics, are poisonous to sea life when ingested, often entangle sea animals, and remain in the ocean practically forever.
